. . . . and the winner is: The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene!
The Aventis awards are considered the "most prestigious" science book awards and a panel of distinguished judges selects the top entries from a short list of what are arguably the most briiliant and relevant (by relevant I mean based in reality, science, and pertinent to the things that truly matter the most, truth and understanding) books of the year.
The aforementioned winning book "The Elegant Universe" is the "theory of everything" and sounds very intriguing. Note the other runners up as well, I am very interested in "A Brief History of the Future" and "Children of Prometheous" among others. Very exciting stuff.
