Ok, I will apologize up front for going political AND semi-religious here, but it needs to be done. WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON IN GOVERNMENT TODAY??
Check this out. This morning I hear on NPR the "serious debate" about the "ethics" and "danger" of human cloning. Several companies want to clone humans for infertile couples (lets call it what it is, for CASH.) As a result of this a coalition of United States senators and representatives with the apparent backing of the president are poised to introduce legislation "right away" that will BAN CLONING because of the "extreme risk" it poses. It seems that out of the mammals that have already been cloned (mice, sheep, cows, pigs and monkeys) most of them are not quite normal and or have problems. The situation is complicated and yes some discussion is warranted, but where in the hell are our priorities???? JUST YESTERDAY THE UNITED STATES PRESIDENT DECIDED NOT TO ENDORSE THE KYOTO PROTOCOL!
Um, lets see here, some couple that cant have a kid decides to try cloning and the offspring they get may or may not have health issues, ACT NOW WE DEMAND LEGISLATION!!! And the earth may be headed towards destruction of the ozone layer and subsequent protection from ultra violet (and other) rays which will cause untold problems including the cancerous slow death of countless human beings and all of the other serious planetwide issues associated with global warming, UH LETS NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT, WE ARENT SURE JUST WHAT TO DO AND IT MIGHT COST MONEY????
Get a freaking grip. The current president of the United States has opted to:
Here is the message these ACTIONS yield, screw the environment add the church as one of the government braches to fix all problems, pray to Jesus and be rich; that is the new American way.
Thats the short list straight from memory, I am sure that a little research would yield even more complete atrocities. I dont totally disagree with the current president on all issues (the taxcut for example, I dont totally believe that this "relief" will fix the economy, but why shouldnt the percentage be the same for everyone, that makes total sense) but why the complete hypocrisy and disparity on the environmental front? Its better to protect an unborn child and a clone but disregard the AIR WE BREATHE and the WATER WE DRINK, etc? I think a lot of the environmental resistance is ecomonically based. Business people and industry dont understand or disregard the science of these matters because it will cost their companies money to make it right. Yeah, so what, deal with reality, it will COST A LOT MORE LATER IF WE DONT DEAL WITH IT NOW!
I gave the government and new president the benefit of the doubt when they current regime was "elected" (lets not go there, except to say, yeah, elected, OK, whatever), but the record already speaks for itself. Our government is comprised of many short term thinkers whom are not prepared to deal with any real long term issue, at least not on their "watch." Its a complete shame and a sham, we should all DEMAND better by writing letters and expressing opinions NOW and in the future at the POLLS.
