New IBM "p" series server that runs only Linux

IBM has made Linux available on its servers for some time. However some of the higher end models required AIX present to boot and then went into Linux. Not anymore. IBM has made avaialble a modified version of SuSE to run the entire show. Only one "p" series gets the Linux only option for now, the new p630. The p series are super serious machines. They are 64 bit IBM power4 CPU based. The new p630 runs aroung 16-17K with ONE CPU, 2GB ram and SuSE, make sure its on your xmas list.   IBM debuts new Linux-only server: news.com
