Have you left no sense of decency?

I was just asking Cooper if I was the only one that is now constantly annoyed by the fact that "Groups" is no longer on the Google home page. Sure its just one extra Javascripty "more" popup away but that has still derailed my research browsing pattern of the last half decade. Based on his response, apparently it is not only me.

I realize the whole Google Video re-intro splash made the blog rounds but the focus there was on the new importance of Video to Google, not on wrecking the ingrained search patterns of code grunts everywhere.

I do not mind if Video gets the top billing and Groups gets less attention, but there is certainly room for more than 5 links on the top of the damn page? (The traditional Google text only links too, they will scale and so on, no harm whatsoever in having a few more of em.)

RE: Have you left no sense of decency?

Here here... I agree completely. How annoying - and really there is not one time I've ever wanted to search for something on Google that required me to click that video link. Maybe I'll click that map link one day - but I used to use groups all the time. Corporate sell outs, that what they have become.

I just wish they would add BlogSearch to the front page too. If I am having a problem with something tech-related, my usual fail-through is Google, Groups, Blogs.
