Re: Rogue

First off, its great to see you back, you were always more articulate than I.

I totally agree with you on this statement. The United States is out of control, rogue is a perfect word.

I have been ranting about this for MONTHS, this one back in July - http://screaming-penguin.com/main.php?storyid=2478 before it was even a popular subject and then this one http://screaming-penguin.com/main.php?storyid=2638
and then this one http://screaming-penguin.com/main.php?storyid=2649. Basically my articles share the exact same sentiment as yours but are more off the hip.

All of that said, I think we may be the only two people in the United States that feel this way. The rest of the country thinks we are unpatriotic and unamerican and blah blah blah and as you point out, driving a Toyota SUV with an American Flag, quoting Sept 11 every time you need to sell something political or otherwise and bitching about blowing up Arabs arbitrarily is NOT my idea of patriotism, quite the contrary.

At this low point in American history we have taken due process away from citizens, detained unreasonably non citizens with no hope of any process due or not, enacted sweeping laws that have eroded personal rights, enacted presidential orders that allow the president to not disclose whatever he wants in the name of national security without bothering him to go through the process to classify, runied foreign relations with virtual every nation on earth (there are a few purported supporters whom are really horrified at us but are too scared to speak up because we have them pressured in one way or antother not to do so), runined domestic policies with specious tax cuts, runied the separation of church and state with specios "faith based" initiatives, runied the environment with irresponsible "pro business" legislation and engaged in military actions including bombing in several other nations based on speculation and fear.

Proud to be an American? I am proud that I can dissent as I am, but I am not at all proud of the actions of my country or the majority of the rest of my fellow citizens. I feel my country is a disgrace. For that I will earn scorn and consternation just for mentioning it, thats what sad, people dont even consider what you say but are automatically appaled at someone criticizing the US, especially a citizen, and again, that is the opposite of what being an American is, to me at least.
