The *Real* AARP (Once again, I'm not kidding)

That is an actual ad running on The American Spectator.

sick & disgusting.....but yet faintly funny (not to mention hypocritical) considering this administration's use of "gay prostitutes" to portray real journalists in order to hype an an un-tenable party line

RE: The *Real* AARP (Once again, I'm not kidding)

So why is that bad? Does that mean they are against 50cal machine guns and for loving relationships, and thats bad?

And dont get me wrong, I dont mean to imply anything negative about American armed forces. I think the US troops deserve all the support we can give them especially in the situations our government has put them in. I am just making a point that two people kissing (whatever sex they may be) is supposed to be so horrible and a soldier manning a large machine gun is supposed to be great?

Notwithstanding how fucking twisted the logic is trying to make these implications about the AARP.

Becuase Oceana has always been at war with Eurasia and it is not until the government succeeds in the complete elimination of the orgasm that man will truely be free.

The question, really, is what IS the AARP? Who do they serve? If a retired (elderly) person joins and pays for advocacy through the AARP, then can the retired person reasonably expect the AARP to stick to issues which pertain ONLY to what their name implies? Soldiers? Gays? Either issue belies what I would expect from an organizaiton claiming through its name to advance retired people.

Good article, good discussion cooper.

Well, part of the point is, however, that the AARP isn't actively involved in either of those issues. The ad just wants to make sure they get attached with the "Liberal" label and those are the two viceral, all emotional issues that they can used to do it.

As to advocacy, however, you have to be willing to accept responsibility for whatever group you support. I find most people you explain it to get pissed off when they find out that their AAA dues go to lobby the government for relaxed CAFE standards and against mass transit. Is that unrelated to AAA's scope? Not really, however it is damned near covert the way they do it.

If you are talking about the American Automobile Association, there are no doubt people who would have issue with the fact that the card itself carries your bail bond on the back of it if you are arrested.

RE: The *Real* AARP (Once again, I'm not kidding)

Why did you pull the pic?

RE: The *Real* AARP (Once again, I'm not kidding)

He didnt, American Spectator did. It was a link to their site.

But for those that had not seen it it was an image of a soldier on one side with a big red X and an image of two men getting married on the other side with a big green check.
