Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

As most of us have heard, money whores....I mean rock band Metallica, is suing Napster for copyright infringement, arguing that Napster has made no efforts to comply with the bands request that pirating of their songs be stopped.
Hmm, Metallica, losing money? I thought the $150 concert tickets would have padded your wallets sufficiently. Not to rant for too long, but Metallica is requesting the impossible, given the nature of Napster. Napster does not in any way provide MP3's, or even approve/moderate the playlists that people keep online. All the content on Napster is from other users like you and I, as Im sure we all know. It makes this quite clear in all-caps print as soon as you log on

It is kinda like suing the HTTP protocol because kiddie porn is transferred across it. I know that sounds a little ridiculous, but the best example I have heard so far is "suing Hotmail because people send illeagal or proprietary information across its network." Napster really is a good way to get publicity for artists. In fact, my friends are in a band, and they pulicised the hell out of an MP3 of theirs in all the chat rooms. A few hundred people downloaded it, and now they get e-mails weekly asking for more of their work. These are a bunch of high school kids who do this in their spare time; if that is not a shining endorsement of Napster, I dont know what is.
