Ripping a CD you own is a crime

This goes in the humor column, because soon the major record labels will be out of business and we will all be able to look back and laugh at crap like this: RIAA: Those CD rips of yours are still "unauthorized". (Well, while I am on the fantasy track, also the IP laws will change so that rights are crystal clear, and fair use is well defined, and certainly includes making a backup copy - and the patent system will get fixed.)

Ripping a CD, one you own, is tantamount to "stealing" a "single copy," per the head of litigation at Sony BMG.
