AIR next up in the "battle for hearts and minds" of those who "build things"

This is not more Air news, it's AIR news, silly.

AIR is no longer in the labs, it's now official: Adobe AIR. This is big news today (even at conventional media outlets like the NYtimes), and really it should be, because it is a very interesting technology (though I am not personally willing to bite down on the proprietary nature of the SDKs and such required, I still acknowledge it's a damn cool platform).

I thing that is often confused in AIR coverage is that it not only can do the offline thing (like Prism), but it can do it for Ajax apps too, it's not just for Flex/Flash.

AIR is built with Tamarin (the ultra nice JIT ECMAScript compiler which Adobe gets props for, they created this, and then donated it to the open source community), WebKit (all the kids are embedding WebKit nowadays it seems), and SQLLite.
