Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

Wow, check out JetSpeed. The Apache Software Foundation which brought the world the fantastic webserver of the same name (and many other innovations, Cocoon, JServ, XML and Java Apache, etc) is working on a new open source groupware product.This product is aimed directly at the big groupware guns, Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. Imagine a free, stable and capable open source GPL groupware suite! The "backend" will be based on other open source software components, the "frontend" will be JetSpeed. Jestspeed has a thousand features that will compete with the best commercial products. Its got public and private folders (LDAP), "portlets", calendaring and scheduling, full email capabilities, news, discussion, polling, address book and more. Check out a Demo web version of JetSpeed now. And keep in mind all of the components are based on proven standards and or open source technologies, this is a great thing and a fantastic idea.
