Further Transmeta Crusoe Details

More later, that is the basic plan. What Transmeta is up to is still not totally clear. For the uninitiated Linux creator Linus Torvalds now works in the cloak and dagger office of a company called Transmeta in Silicon Valley.Transmeta has gotten a lot of press, for keeping so quiet. By patent documents, other filing information and cryptic press conference blurbs, it is clear they are developing a new processor. This new processor, code named Crusoe, will be a combination of hardware and software that allows it to essentially translate code on the fly and allow it operate any operating system. This "code-morphing" chip may be aimed more at future PDAs and smaller access devices rather than PCs.Either way it is a significant development and in the future everything will be computer, even your shirt (yep, I have seen it, laundry instructions built into a shirt chip.) This future of "pervasive computing" yields enormous potential for the Crusoe chip and for Transmeta.Check the links for more details. ALSO - the Transmeta site is supposedly going to be updated with further detail TODAY after a Linus Keynote speech at Comdex. Transmeta
