Hyperion is a 155 foot blue water sailing machine, more than a yacht really, about the coolest boat ever! Dr. Jim Clark, founder of Silicon Graphics and co-founder of Netscape (not a bad resume) had this boat custom made by Royal Huisman, he calls it his "masterpeice." He is absolutely correct, it is a masterpeice. This boat has a Rondal carbon fibre mast that is 200 feet tall and one of the worlds most sophisticated software control systems. A central server computer monitors, formats and subsequently enters all data into a database that becomes part of the ships "memory." The databse serves to help "perfect" sailing performance by analyzing past trim and sail positions and optimizing settings for a variety of wind and sea conditions. Twenty-six, 20 inch flat screen monitors display infomration and allow touch screen control of the vessel. Dr. Clark personally wrote much of the software.
