Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

Caldera Thin Clients, a software oriented branch of Caldera, has changed it name to the ultra catchy and consumer friendly, Lineo. Lineo will market a new version of Caldera OpenLinux called Embedix. Embedix is planned for consumer devices in the home and for all handheld and mini devices. Embedix even has a browser called Embrowser (clever, huh?) The main Embedix competition is Windows CE, ok its a stretch to call it competitive, but this is the target market. How about a new Palm VIII with Embedix instead of CE? Yeah, it does sound great!This is a very cool development and a wise business move for Caldera, embedded devices are the future. I dont know if the plan is to incorporate and embrace Suns Jini or to move away from it, but either way, whatever software technology wins, a robust mini-OS underneath will be a requirement for all, hence Embedix.
