IBM and Linux its Official

According to ZDNET in this story IBM will announce later today the official certification of Linux on IBM servers. This has been floating around for sometime, but with official IBM backing Linux is sure to gain ground in the corporate arena. I have actually predicted in the past, for several reasons, that IBM would buy one of the major Linux vendors or create its own distro (may still happen, BlueLinux?) That hasnt happened, probably because none of them are dumb enough to sell at any cost, and IBM isnt quite yet prepared to roll their own, but still IBM is making a serious effort to be the Linux company.IBM now offers hardware (Netifinity and PCs), software (including Notes, ViaVoice, Jikes, DB2, ServeRAID and more) and service for Linux (90 days free with a hardware purchase or contract through IBM GLobal Services.) This is a smart move and will put IBM back in the forefront of PC computing where the market share has fallen drastically. A Big Blue Penguin after all.
