The Win2K official launch ceremony has been described by many as "underwhelming." Is the Microsoft grip slipping? I remember the last BIG Windows launch for 95 and people were out buying it at midnight the day of its release (just to be the very first big losers I guess.)Well, needless to say, despite the endless hype, I dont think people are buying (pun intended) this one nearly as much. I have seen the Windows launch propaganda on TV, billboards and even on buses, but the draw just isnt there. IS it a wiser user community, hmmmm?I am sure Win2K will still be successful and will be a big draw to some, after all, regardless of what it is, the latest software with the shiniest box will sell. Overall I am encouraged by the apparent comprehension of the drawbacks and the quality problems. Many articles warn about early adoption and deployment, this was not the case with Win9x and or NT4. This is seemingly not only a victory for more intelligent software users and consumers, but a victory and opportunity for Linux as well.
