SciAm: Swarm Smarts

This month in Scientific American they have a great article about computer modeling based upon biological precepts. Worth a read, unfortunately the article is not online (most are, there are bunch of others worth a look too), but you can check it at a newstand or get a script (worth it, this is a great mag.)

Here is the synopsis:
Swarm Smarts
Eric Bonabeau and Guy Théraulaz

Taking ants and other social insects as models,
computer scientists are designing software agents that cooperate to solve extraordinarily complex problems, such as finding an efficient way to reroute traffic through a busy telecom network.
