The fire that still rages out of control in Los Alamos, N.M has consumed some 260 homes, caused the evacuation of thousands and destroyed the original building where the atomic bomb was developed. The town of Los Alamos was originally entirely designed to be the home for scientists working on various research projects including the atomic bomb. All but one of the buildings that housed the Manhattan Project are gone. These ominous and infamous buildings were none the less very historic landmarks.
