Digital Ballots?

None of us ever imagined knowing quite so much about the "technology" of the voting process. In fact it seems a little silly to call the 35 year old "Votamatic" technology at all in this day and age. Machines that pucnh cards and or scan results are ancient history. In the wake of the political fallout of the recent US presedential election lets hope at least one good thing arises from the mess, reform.

Electronic and federally mandated federal elections. Hmmmm. The linked sfgate article points out the pros and cons of both and while there are disadvantages to electronic measures(audit trail, tampering possibility, loss of data) they are far less than the disadvantage of ambiguous votes.
