Apache today has a great article (from a webreference author) that details some of the new nuances of Netscape 6. 6 is not Navigator, it actually adheres to W3C standards "more rigourously" and that is a GREAT thing (6 has some real standards problems though, check this previous TotSP article.) Standards debate on certain issues aside, 6 is a step further towards the right direction (apparently.) The aforementioned Apache Today article delves into how to distinguish 6 from Navigator and Explorer, and then what to do with that information. Gecko is the engine, the components of layout and presentation. Mozilla is the package of the Gecko components into a browser. Netscape 6 is Mozilla (which is Gecko.) Once you have that straight and you then determine which you are dealing with, then your site or application should adapt to be truly browser independent. This is great knowledge and makes for great sites, but yes, its a pain in the arse that is perpetuated by browser makers that have scoffed at standards for years.
