Tomcat Wins!
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - June 5, 2001 - The editors of JavaWorld have selected Jakarta Tomcat 3.2 as the \"Most
Innovative Java Product\" of 2001. These expert judges selected Jakarta Tomcat over Java Web Start 1.0 from Sun
Microsystems and VisualAge for Java 3.5, Enterprise Edition from IBM.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Tomcat community were developers Craig McClanahan and Marc Saegesser.
\"Tomcat is a group effort - this award recognizes the worldwide community of developers and users,
working together to produce the Tomcat we have today,\" said Craig when accepting the award, \"and the
best is yet to come!\"
The current Tomcat release is 3.2.2, released on May 28, 2001.
In other Tomcat news, Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced that Tomcat will be an integral part in the new Web Services
Pack, a Sun-supported all-in-one download of key technologies for building web services with the Java 2 platform.
