Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

This really really sucks, but apparently Webvan is no more. According to a story on slashdot the warehouse (in Oakland) is being cleared out and employees are leaving. And yes, the site is down.

I believed in the business model, and frankly still do, but webvan has proven that just spending like crazy is not how you make it work (Webvan and a plethora of others.) Hopefully someday somebody will get this business model right, because regardless of stock, etc, it sure would be nice to order groceries and other household items online and have them delivered in a timely manner.
