TotSP "webE" award for stupidity goes to crack team of MS and Webbys

There have been too many incidents and stories to recount lately about Microsoft and security. My personal "webE" award for stupidity goes to a combination team of Microsoft and the Webby Awards themselves.

First of all a little background. Lets start with "Code Red." Recently the MS exploit of the day was a little chinese (purportedly) invention called "Code Red." Code Red is a scripted exploit that automatically defaces IIS sites and then searches for more IIS sites to do more damage. It was quite amusing actually (and while certainly not surprisng or illuminating in the wake of the frequency of IIS issues hopefully it "learned" some folks.)

Secondly and quite hilarious in and of itself was the recent attack on a Microsoft IIS server at Microsoft. Specifically "Code Red" was able to deface "windowsupdate.microsoft.com." Yeah, thats right, the exploit was able to hack the very site where windows is supposed to make its patches and updates available. HAHAHAHA (hows that for irony, and note that another author here already did point this out, check out the story.)

Thirdly, and the reason this story is any different from the aforementioned previous post, is that the prestigious "Webby" awards recently gave "windowsupdate.microsoft.com" an award. The webby braniacs gave windowsupdate the award for "Technical Achievement." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Now the Webby awards themselves have always garnered deserved criticism from people who really know anything about technology or the Internet, but this is a new level of ignorance. (Dont get me started on the Webbys, all those sites that are paying $45 bucks to be considered by the "Academy", what a scam and a bunch of crap, they actually call themselves among other things "the leading international honor for achievement in technology and creativity", yeah, right up there with Pulitzer and Nobel!)

Too damn funny. Hence my personal "webE" award for stupidity goes to the team of Microsoft and the Webby Awards. And note, dont try to check out the great "technical acheivement' that windows update is without using IE, it wont even display at ALL in Mozilla (you can read the source and see the error about ActiveX, but just a blank screen in the browser, just for grins, take this technological masterpiece and try to validate it at the w3c, again, HAHAHAHAHA!!!)   Webby Award
