Handspring and Sprint compete over Visor phone capability: c|net

Sprint recently announced a new module that plugs into the Handspring Visor product and allows it to become a Sprint PCS wireless phone. The Sprint module "Digital Link" is being offered by Sprint because Visors already offer wireless phone service from other competitors via one of Handsprings own modules. The Handspring module called "VisorPhone" offers service from Powertel, Cingular and VoiceStream.

Its a smart move by Sprint to offer their own module, and its all good for Handspring to have both available. Even though these "modules" compete, its really good news for both companies as availablity, service and potentially customer bases will increase.

I am not a big PDA guy, and dont own a Handspring, but its cool to see wireless PDA services increasing and companies offering choices to consumers (whether they did it on purpose or not.)
