My firewall is still running an older rev of the Linux kernel (2.2.x series) so that I can still use my ipchains rules. I spent quite a bit of time perfecting my ipchains stuff and it has worked great for quite some time (knock on proverbial wood.)
However there are now a few features of the newer kernels I want to take advantage of (2.4.x, not to mention I just want it cause the number is higher, like many of us although we dont readily admit it.) So that means I need to learn this Netfilter and iptables stuff that the newer kernels use. Gone is my ipchains.
I did some research and found a great resource of real scripts, howots and more. Checkit via the link and props to linuxguruz.org. http://www.linuxguruz.org/iptables/
