As always the Netscraft survey has some interesting stuff. For example IIS made another .05% overall gain last month (with the disclaimer that the survey starts at the beginning of the month, if people bailed on MS because of Code Red, that wont be reflected until next month) yet the number of web servers total of any flavor dropped . Apache still has the considerable lead, but IIS now has improved its standing for 2 consecutive months.
The most interesting thing I see in the survey is that for the first time the security scans of IIS reveal that MORE IIS SERVERS ARE PATCHED THAN EVER BEFORE. This is a direct result of Code Red. Code Red forced MS to release a comprehensive patch and all the hysteria and hype caused those wannabe sysadmins (IIS jockeys) to actually INSTALL THE PATCH! This is unprecedented and again the catalyst WAS CODE RED.
Another interesting thing, LinkExchange now reports to be Windows2000. It has always been FreeBSD even though OWNED by MS (another hotmail fiasco.)
