Screaming Penguin - Source Does Matter

This is too damn funny. Check out the home page of FuckedCompany.com, a recent episode where some unknown really stupid dotcom is suing anonymous posters is detailed there.

Check out the letter the dotcom sent to FC. They are suing for defamation of character, revealing trade secrets, etc. Whats funny is that they are suing, and I quote from the legal documents, "Ex-DLJ, SUCKY-ME, and IDIOT!." These clowns are suing anonymous posters at FC and have taken legal action to try and make FC reveal whom the anonymous persons are. You gotta read the letter (linked on the homepage of FC), pages 3 and 4 are the best. The part about the address of FC changing is ROTFLMAO material.

The fact that these clowns think they can sue somebody for an anon post is not so funny, but the related events are. Hopefully these people will get such negative publicity from a stpuid stunt like this that they will learn a lesson, "Dont poke the Internet with a pencil."

Mini Poster Privacy Rant

I totally agree with Kaplan, the FC owner, on this one, he should change his address as is specified in the docs and this whole thing is a joke. Technically, while you could check webserver logs against posts and times, etc, and you might be able to find an IP address, chances are that is a proxy, aggregate, etc. There is far too much possibility of misinformation. In fact here at TotSP we log the posters IP AS OUR OWN and dont even record the real remote IP. Its all a bunch of crap anyway, even if technically you could determine whom SUCKY ME is, should you have to? Hell no! When someone posts anonymously, thats exactly what that is supposed to be, anonymous. This is an interesting question that can be complicated (for example it IS illegal to divulge trade secrets, although I highly doubt this clown dotcom HAD any valid secrets of an original nature) but I still say this case is ridiculous.
