This story has made news in several places but it is notable enough to risk repeating. Korea is moving 120K civil servants from Microsoft Windows to Linux.
The Korean government, in a move of serious foresight and wisdom (in my humble opinion), has elected to standardize on a particular Linux distribution and Linux office suite. Hancom Linux and Hancom Office in this case. They anticipate an 80% savings on software!
It turns out that Hancom Office software has been a big player in Korea for many years, bigger than Microsoft Office. This means this is not as much of a risk as other countries or companies would take in a similar move, but its still a big move and a big blow to MS.
