Planet in orbit around Red Giant: CNN

Iota Draconis is about 13 times larger than our Sun. It has exhausted its fuel supply (Hydrogen) and become a red giant. Thats not anything new. What is new is that using the "wobble" technique scientists have discoverd a planet in orbit around the giant star. This purportedly means that planets can survive the expansion of their "host" star. Survive meaning still be there, intact. Of course the conditions on the planet are nowhere near the same as pre red giant host star days.

Interesting discovery. For info check the linked CNN story.   Planet in orbit around Red Giant: CNN
