windowsupdate site down 5 days from .Net

It seems that Microsoft is struggling with some serious software issues at this point. The new .Net software initiative has a host of problems that has been blamed for a series of outages at Microsoft sites, culminating in a recent 5 day outage at the windowsupdate.microsoft.com site. Gartner analysts are pretty harsh and are calling the .Net problems a "plague" and stating that Microsoft is "not dealing with it."

One of the reasons this problem is exacerbated is that Windows XP has had several prominent security issues as of late and customers have not been able to get the updates that are required.

Lets recap, customers buy the new "most secure Windows yet" and its full of security holes. Industry analysts report everywhere that XP should not be connected to the Internet. Microsoft then says "get on the Internet and get the updates." Customers CANT because the place they have been told to get the updates is off line. Quality control anyone? This theme has been illustrated here before but even at the risk of undue repetition, I proclaim that consumers need to wise up and demand better. Dont buy it.
