Several recent reports state that Sun has plans to start charging for StarOffice in order to \"allow them to continue the development.\" I can see charging a very modest fee for the upkeep, but too much will be a shot in the foot. Sun needs StarOffice to compete with the MS Office stronghold and StarOffice can compete.

Its usability and availability have been its strong point, pricing it anywhere near what MS Office costs will kill it completely.
