The new Nokia phones debuted at CEBIT are just plain cool. Personally while I admit I like technology, etc, I am not a gadget guy. Most cell phones and PDAs and handhelds, etc, dont impress me.
These new Nokia dudes are an exception to that. They have all the standard cell phone fare and they run java apps (including applets) and have the Opera browser. Now thats pretty cool. Also, they are GSM only (GSM 900/1800 and EGSM 900/1800) so they dont work in the states (but that, IMHO, is AS IT SHOULD BE, its not the phones fault they dont have bandwidth in the states, these phones need real bandwidth, they should be GSM only.)
These are pretty cool devices, maybe someday, when bandwidth and prices and services all step up there will be options for real mobile devices in the states. (Even with the cool phones, until some provider has outstanding customer service, reasonable rate plans that dont charge by the minute or call or text msg etc and has the bandwidth, mobile in America will remain lame.)
Check the linked story on slashdot, and the Nokia site for more details on these devices.
