Largo Florida Runs Linux and Reaps the Benefits: ZDNet

A ZDNet story details how the city of Largo Florida has employed Linux for all city employees. They use several Compaq servers running Linux and thin clients for the users. The system has 400 terminals. In addition the city is also porting server applications from NT to Linux.

Brilliant. Especially in this case to replace dumb "green" terminals. All of this has resulted in LESS support time and an estimated saving of a measly million bucks a year for the city.

Hopefully more governments will catch a clue, just think how much of your tax money pays for and supports Windows when it could be used in a much better capacity! (and for that matter, solitaire and minesweeper, ok, thats another issue, sorry.)   Largo Florida Runs Linux and Reaps the Benefits: ZDNet
