A few US scientists are placing a new twist on the old argument that black holes may not exist. May scientists have questioned the existence of black holes, but not many have offered up an alternative hypothesis to explain the physical conditions present around alleged black holes.

"Emil Mottola of the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and Pawel Mazur of the University of South Carolina in Columbia" state that extremely dense bubbles of matter they have deemed "gravastars" are actually what exists and that black holes are not holes at all. The new gravastar model *seems* to fit all the observational evidence and solve a few issues that black holes could never reconcile.
