Dump Exchange and Switch to SamsungContact on Linux

That of course if what Samsung recommends. SamsungContact is an all encompassing application for mail and communication that includes all the Exchange type bells and whistles. Global addresss books, Scheduling and all that hoopla.

Well, there are MANY Exchange competitors and many among those that run on Linux (or Unix, etc). So what is special about SamsungContact?

Well Samsung claims a savings of 32M over 3 years for sites with 100,000 mail users over Exchange. Thats significant. For sites as small as 1000 users they claim a 432K over 3 year savings. Also significant.

Its worth a look. I would not jump in based on Samsung hype alone, but please, for the sake of my Inbox AND your job security, if you are an IT manager or Exchange admin consider an alternative that is more stable, secure and cost effective. Any of the Unix solutions are better, IMHO. SuSE has a Linux Mail Server with scheduling and address books, even Lotus Notes is an improvement (the Unix run flavor preferably). For small shops I still prefer Sendmail with global addresss books done by other open source projects such as PhpGroupWare or even SquirrelMail.

Exchangers, do the world and yourself a favor and consider the alternatives to having to use NT or 2000 as an OS and all the Exchange security issues. There ARE alternatives even for traditional Windows shops.

Re: Dump Exchange and Switch to SamsungContact on Linux

Isn't the real 'inbox abuser' the Email client and not the server? So what if I use sendmail? I can still send melissa to a user of Outlook and it will still cause havoc, correct?
If memory serves, then most of the exploits have very little to do with the server, but the client and client-side scripting. (which we all know that atrox is a huge fan of.)
If I am right, then your plea is really pointless. A more appropriate plea would be to use some other mail client.
And if I am wrong, well then, you just misunderstood me.

Re: Dump Exchange and Switch to SamsungContact on Linux

Exactly what other mail client should people use with exchange?

Re: Dump Exchange and Switch to SamsungContact on Linux

Actually there are quite a few exploits for the server also. That was my MAIN point. The "my inbox" comment does relate more to scripting exploits that are client related, granted, but that was not the point of the article. There were a few other points, overall security, cost, and stability.

By the way, you are correct, so I did not misunderstand you, but you are still a jackass, just a completely understood jackass.

Re: Dump Exchange and Switch to SamsungContact on Linux

and all this time, I kept saying, "nobody gets me." turns out they do, but I'm just a jackass. Thanks for clearing that up.
