Sun puts up $3M for Open Source Java standards projects: news.com

Sun comes through with some money for Java and Open Source. Sun has announced they will find 30 projects for 3 years that build "open source implementations of Java standards" and pass the Sun certifications for such standards. Test suites for these standards are apparently very expensive. Sun has also of course allowed Open Source groups to participate in the Java Community Process which is the Java steering committee.
