Mouse "Gestures" in Mozilla

Mouse gestures are very interesting. Basically a mouse gesture is a recognized sequence of movements from the mouse that then causes an action (up, up, down, etc.)

The official explanation is thus: "Mouse movements in combination with a click-hold and optionally a modifier that execute some browser functions. You press mouse button (plus modifier, if you have configured it like this), draw a gesture and release mouse button. This gesture is recognized and appropriate action is triggered."

There is a package for Mozilla, called MozGest, that allows the usage of mouse gestures. Check out more via the linked MozDev project page for the project sponsor, OptiMoz.   Mouse Gestures

Re: Mouse

follow up, i installed gestures in moz and its really damn cool. some of the things admittedly require more mouse movement than clicking on a button on the toolbar would (so overall economy is not better, not always) but some of the things are also VERY handy.

up down click to reload

click right to forward

click left to back

make an s to view source

make a c to view cookies

make an m to view meta tags

make a lower case b to bookmark

up click to open link in new window

down click to open link in new tab

left down click for next tab

right down click for prev tab

etc, etc, etc

Re: Mouse

That is totally sweet! I remember playing a game called Black and White that had a similar interface to the gameplay. The only annoying thing of this was when I was highlighting text to copy to another app, it started to interpret that as a mouse gesture and did a bunch of weird stuff. Other than that, it works really well. YARWMR! (yet another reason why mozilla rules!)

Re: Mouse

sweet, a new acronym to add to the vernacular!
