More Flap over the Win2K SP3 EULA: slashdot

An earlier debate broke out about applying Microsofts SP3 to Win2K. Background: if you dont apply the patch the machine is vulnerable to intrusion and not considered secure by even Microsoft themselves. This means that Windows 2K cannot be used in areas where security is required by certifications, such as the medical industries HIPPA. HIPPA apparently specifically states that no one can have access to the machine (as it should) and Microsofts EULA is clearly in voilation of this. The EULA states this: You acknowledge and agree that Microsoft may automatically check the version of the OS Product and/or its components that you are utilizing and may provide upgrades or fixes to the OS Product that will be automatically downloaded to your computer. Very funny, IMHO. If I used Windows I might not find it so funny, but then again, why would I do that (that introduces a myriad of expenses and problems I dont need.) The linked article on slashdot is specifically about the EULA and HIPPA. Of course everyone on slashdot that posts a comment knows everything about the universe (much like I do) so the discussion goes many directions, but its very interesting. Checkit via the link, and one more time, I got yer patch right here!   Is Win2k + SP3 HIPAA Compliant?: slashdot
