Seems there are many camps coming up with "standards" for web services. Goes back to the old saying standards are so great because there are so many to choose from (somebodys quote, dont recall know whom, sorry).
IBM and Microsoft have combined for a standard, Sun has a standard, etc. Oracle has asked the W3C to pick one and lets get on with it. The important things to keep web services going are an industry recognized and governed body approved standard that is royalty free.
The W3C is not always the fastest organization in the world but it is usually pretty good about selecting what should go in, what should not and maintaining the standard.
Good luck to all the competitors, we do need ONE standard, but it sure will suck to have to change all that stuff already written once one shows up.
