Tesco.com a popular European online grocer has announced plans to enter many new areas in California. Tesco already operates in some California areas, Portland and Vancouver.

Tescos announcement to move into new territory comes after another announcement that sales are up 27% in the UK.

Tesco partners with Safeway in the states and the software that runs the grocery operations is GorceryWorks.com, a joint venture by the two companies.

The news.com article fails to mention that online groceries are also available on the east coast of the US. PublixDirect, a subsidiary of Publix, is operating in south Florida and has plans to open locations in other Florida areas and Georgia. Peapod operates in select areas of Washington DC, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
