320GB IDE drives!: theRegister
This is the same story that comes out every year or so, "oh my goodness I cant believe they now have (insert mega size here) hard drives".
Seems Maxtor is prepping the "MaXLine" series of ATA drives that have up to 320GB capacity and 1M MTBF hours. Drives are around 400 bucks.
Damn, that is a monster drive. Again the old man in me says "I recall, sonny, back in college when we had machines with 2 8" floppies and no damn hard drives, then we got those 18lb 40MB drives", etc.
For more on the new Maxtor line see the linked register story. Maxtor preps 320GB HDD: theRegister

I know what you mean... I'm thinking back to my days of youth and wondering - how many punch cards would that be????
