SETI moving, getting hardware and cash: space.com

SETI is changing the locations of its radio telescope , getting new software upgrades and getting a boost of cash.

SETI will be moving from Arecibo (Puerto Rico) to Parkes (Australia). Parkes can observe 70% of the sky whereas Aricebo can only see 30%. Also the move to the southern hemisphere means the odds go up because there are more stars visible from the southern.

SETI is also getting new software on the back end to scan the tapes and of course new versions with more features and greater ease of use on the front end.

Not many details on the money part, but apparently the SETI project will be one of the focus stories on NPRs All Things Considered today at 4PM (EST).
