Ok, this site has WAAAY to much politics lately, more so that ever, but that is just because of the events as of late, and plans are to cut it out and move it to another site altogether that will be more in that vein. Now that you have my disclaimer, until that site is ready, here we go with just a bit more. I am a HUGE opponent of "faith based" crap that the Bush administration is now pushing. Its obvious why, its illegal for one but even more so important than that is the fact that it is illegal for a host of GOOD reasons (its not like the laws in Alabama, jab jab). For one Church and state should be separate because any connection by definition is discriminatory. You cant pick one church and you cant ignore the atheists. You just cant, you can argue all you want but you cant. You can also really screw up a church and end up with discrimination and influence there, but thats another matter. Thomas Jefferson put it best and make note that freedom FROM religion is just as important as freedom OF religion, at least to our founding fathers if not to our current leaders. That said despite the illegality and ignorance the practice is in full swing. Recently it was announced that the illustrious Pat Robertson will get $500,000 in federal funding for his Operation Zealot, er Blessing. Pat himself hates the thought of taking the money from the evil government that has not yet forced prayer in schools, jailed all gays, indentured all non white businessmen and shot all of those who have sex in any other position than missionary (with the exception of Catholic priests and small boys, those are of course "men of God"), but he says he will take it anyway and then wean himself of it "like a narcotic". This is ridiculous and deplorable, join Americans United (which is NOT anti Church or atheist, it is simply an organization that believes in the virtues of keeping the Church out of government and vice versa for the benefit of both) and as always make your voice heard by emailing, calling and writing to your governmental representatives.
