The Tigris.org open source software projects folks have several great things going on.
For those that might recall these are the ArgoUML folks. ArgoUML is a totally open source UML modeling tool that is pretty darn sweet (when I last used it, several years ago, it needed a few things, but its pretty full featured now).
Besides ArgoUML and a few other very interesting projects they also sport Subversion. Subversion is a CVS replacement that is meant to be much more user friendly than CVS. CVS does work, but it has some serious drawbacks. The usage commands are archaic and convoluted, it doesnt deal with non text files very well (it can but all the switches and wrappers, etc, make it a nightmare) and it simply doesnt feel like doing useful things like allowing renaming of directories in the repository.
Well in addition to fixing all of those issues Subversion also boasts an Apache/Web-Dav style server that is much easier to maintain and more secure and many other efficiencies.
Subversion milestones are coming along. Its not a 1.0 product yet, but its already useable (according to the site and those that I have asked about it, I have not personally used it).
Keep an eye on Subversion , it is a software product that can really make a difference.
