Microsoft has issued an internal memo that directs efforts to back off the open source and Linux bashing because it is not effective and can "backfire". This is according to many sources "familiar with it" although not confirmed by Microsoft.
The memo states:
"Messaging that discusses possible Linux patent violations, pings the OSS (open-source software) development process for lacking accountability, attempts to call out the 'viral' aspect of the GPL (General Public License), and the like are only marginally effective in driving unfavorable opinions...and in some cases backfire".
According to the brilliant Microsoft ranks, including the President and VPs, Linux is a "cancer" and is the GPL is "viral" as per past statements and memos.
This is a company that is engaged in fair business practices? This is a company you really *want* to do business with?
I think the covert crap like this is a waste of effort on Microsofts part and REGARDLESS of what they are saying about whatever other company or product or movement it backfires. Concentrate on making good software and sell it, there is no reason to try to drive everyone else into the ground.
NEVER use Microsoft products, the company sucks for tactics like this AND the products generally suck. Demand better. See the linked news.com article for more on the "Trustworthy Computing" company. Microsoft memo: Linux fight backfiring: news.com
