The UN Security Council voted unanimously to impose a new resolution that requires Iraq to let inspectors back in and requires Iraq to disarm even if it means using military force to do so.
I totally AGREE with this move. I am not sure why the unilateral posturing and destruction of foreign policy ties was necessary to get here but this result is exactly what is needed. A multilateral UN backed resolution to contain Iraq with consequences if they DO NOT comply.
In the end props to Bush for working with the UN to get to this point.

Re: UN Security Council Orders Iraq to Disarm
Ok, for all I have bitched an moaned about the Administration, I want to give props to Powell and Rumsfeld for pulling it together. I still think the threat to "go it alone" is terribly misguided, but at least we won't have to do so and there is atleast an option for something other than a quasi legal "regime change" war.
Re: UN Security Council Orders Iraq to Disarm
thats exactly my sentiment, congrats to all for learning a bit about what foreign policy is and why its important, yet all the threats to "go it alone" were stupid, misguided and are still just ridiculous. thats been my point all along, yes saddam is a bad guy and needs to be dealt with but the us has no special right to do so on its own accord AND even if the US feels the issue IS of paramount importance to its own situation then it should want to work even more with other nations to address the problem, going it alone in 2002 is flat out ignornat.
all the threats have hurt the us position and standing on many matters and are frankly deplorable, but apparently i am the only one who recognizes this debacle if you base that recognition on the recent elections?!?
