Georgia makes the Daily Show

The Daily Show recently did a piece on the great state of Georrgia. Specifically the focus was on a rally that the "Sons of Confederate Veterans" had at the capitol in support of bringing back a state flag that had a large confederate emblem on it (the stars and bars) AND the state governments decision to repeal a state law that forbids "fornication" for unmarried people.
The flag thing is indeed making Georgia look incredibly dumb. The racists want the flag to be the emblem of the confederacy (the emblem that the confederate states used during the civil war in which the major tenet of the fight was the right to own slaves). The racists are flat our wrong and are not willing to admit their own racism. At least cop to it if you are going to fight for it?
In fact this is a HUGE issue in Georgia. Georgia has a new governor and legislature in at least some part because the past governor got rid of the racist flag without letting people vote on the issue. It is a "racist" flag, no question, no debate. The racists like to state that its "heritage not hate" that they support but that is fallacious. The flag is a symbol of hate, an ANTI American symbol (uh, the word is CONfederate) and a symbol of an era that was an enormous disgrace. The "heritage" people are wrong when they claim they want the confederate flag back because the flag they want was INTRODUCED in Georgia in 1956. If these people really wanted history they would elect to go with a flag that dates from the time they SAY they support? Check out the flags that have flown over Georgia and note the STATE flags BEFORE 1956. Those are the HISTORIC flags of the state of Georgia, not one introduced by the good ole boy racists long AFTER the civil war was over.
On the second issue of allowing consensual sex by adults Georgia is right on time. As the Daily Show put it, the 1900's were too early to allow that, now is the time.
Southern states constantly amaze me. States like Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama and Lousiana can always seem to come up with a riduculous sexual, racist or religious policy, law or view. The south quite frankly needs to get educated and grow up. People in the south need to make their voices heard, vote and get rid of ignorance and hate. Oh wait, sorry, thats how the south got the ignorance and hate, my bad.
