1.3 si out and its the best browser and email client around. New features include a ton of new spam stuff and banner ad blocking. Checkit, get it.
- Mozilla Mail has junk-mail classification. With some initial "training"
the client can identify and segregate spam messages from good messages. To see
more about Mozilla's junk-mail classification, visit the
Mozilla Spam
Filtering page.
- Newsgroup filters have been implemented.
- An initial implementation of Mozilla Midas, rich text editing controls, has
landed in Mozilla for 1.3. See the
Midas page for more
information.
- Image auto sizing allows a user to toggle between full-sized images and
images sized to fit the browser window. To give it a try, load a large image
into the browser window or size the window to be much smaller. Now clicking on
the image will alternate between auto-sized and full-sized. The feature can be
disabled (or enabled) from the Appearance panel in Preferences.
- Users can now "dynamically" switch profiles. To give it a try, from the
tools menu select "Switch Profile..."
- Find as you type, formerly known as type ahead find, has a new preferences
panel (Advanced: Keyboard Navigation).
- When installed, Chatzilla now has a normal Mozilla preferences panel.
- Mozilla 1.3 also includes fixes for performance, standards compliance and
site compatibility.
- Mozilla has a new splash screen. We already know. Please don't report this
to Bugzilla. Thanks.

Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
I am using 1.3 right now. First impressions are that older flaky stuff is now all fixed (thus far, for example setting a folder in bookmark manager to be the "personal toolbar" never worked for me before today, etc) AND the new stuff is great, I love the pop up blocker dialog in prefs. Of course pop ups have been blockable in moz forever, but the new dialog allows "exceptions" and can notify you when it "suppresses" something. NICE!
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
Yeah. It barfed all over my 1.2.1 prefs, which was a little annoying. The popup and banner supression are very nice. They have reworked a good bit of the preferneces dialog, with good results. Email search seems much faster too.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
The prefs thing I dont even try. I save my bookmarks, DELETE all old mozilla everything and then fresh install (and then import bookmarks).
I have never had good luck with the on top of each other upgrade. Never with prefs, its annoying in that all the prefs dont come across and all the saved passwords if you are using that.
Of course you can copy prefs.js, etc, over, but again, thats what I have had issues with in the past. It would be nice to have NEW fresh install and then "import" button for prefs and passwords kinda like bookmarks.
(So I guess I should get started right? instead of bitching about it?)
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
Hmmm... I am getting that PHP session issue now with 1.3 and posting. First time I have ever seen it.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
NM.. I see what it is.. I was on www.screaming and the sidebar links just to screaming-penguin.com :P
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
www.screaming ??? Do you know something the rest of us don't?
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
I just meant I clicked on a link that went to screaming-penguin.com rather than www.screaming-penguin.com and my cookie state changed :P
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
and that might sound insignificant, but it might be the entire reason for the session issue!!!
i always use no www, but maybe others do and then when submit on forum its not, etc. i havent looked into it, but that might be the whole deal, or at least related.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
Hmmm
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
Yep. That seems to be it. When you post to the forums, after the submission is processed it redirects you to screaming-penguin.com. If you session was registered with www.screaming-penguin.com your cookie is dropped.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
I havent looked into this yet, but I bet its exactly as you state, that makes sense. I always use "screaming-penguin.com" and never "www". I will take a look at this as soon as I get a chance and throw in a mod_rewrite or something to clear up all the domains. (Cause if I changed it, the other way would break it too.)
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
lessee....
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
that logged me out. this time I entered the site w/out www.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
no log out. coop. yer my hero. Again.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
well coop noticed it, but didnt think it was an issue, lets give credit where its due, to the idiot that wrote the software that drops the cookie based on the domain name (that is supposed to be the same site), uh, thats me.
Re: Mozilla 1.3 final released.
Ahhhhh...the wonderful feel of checking that complete box next to an aged bug item. I always knew if we could just get Cooper focused on the problem....
