The linked Internet Week story details that IBM Global Services is installing SuSE Itanium systems at several locations for use in the "TeraGrid".

Whats a TerraGrid: he TeraGrid is designed to provide resources for studies of the life sciences, climate modeling, and other disciplines. The Distributed Terascale Facility (DTF), funded by the National Science Foundation, is a joint project of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the San Diego Supercomputing Center, Argonne National Laboratory, and the California Institute of Technology.
