Chimps are Homos? BBC

A new study puts chimp DNA at 99.4% identical to Homo Sapiens. Based on this and other previous studies that put the number near 98% and 95% some researchers now say chimps should be scientifically reclassified into the Homo genus.

They also say Bonobos, another "closely related" ape should be in Homo as well.

I would tend to agree but do acknowledge that using DNA to classify species is a relatively new mechanism (as opposed to what they look like, what they eat, how they interact, etc, which when you think about would also put chimps very close to humans, despite many humans failure to acknowledge it chimps look and act in many ways that are "human" as well having similar DNA).
