Penguin Computing has always had ultra cool Linux servers that I peruse once in a while. I havent ever purchased one I must admit, because it can generally be self built for less, but its a great deal for corporate usage. Penguin Computing has been around and knows Linux hardware. Well, its gonna get even better. Penguin is merging with Scyld.
So what the heck is Scyld? Well its a high end Beowulf Cluster Operating System software provider. It was founded by David Becker (who helped start Beowulf). Why do you know that name? Well besides the Beowulf stuff Mr. Becker is the person who wrote the "vortex" and "boomerang" and in general 3com NIC stuff for Linux. You may have also been to the Scyld Linux Network Drivers info page.
Both companies will retain brand names and continue to operate after the merger. Good luck to both these open source contributors.
